Gifty's® Ghana Shito
AKA
Prawn Chilli Relish

What is Gifty's® Prawn Chilli Relish?

Gifty's® Ghana Shito and Prawn Chilli Relish are one and the same thing. Shito is a delicious, spicy, Ghanaian condiment.

What does it taste like?

Our shito sauce is made with smoked prawns, fish, chilli powder and other spices and slooooow cooked. That means it's full of rich, spicy, smokey seafood flavours.

What else can you do with it?

Shito is essentially a dipping sauce which makes it so versatile. Our customers have told us that they use it as a dip for Ghanaian foods like gari or kenkey, for fried and grilled fish, and stirred into freshly cooked noodles and pasta. You can even add it to soups and stews.

Can anyone eat it?

Well, yes and no. If you have an allergy to prawns or fish, Shito is not the sauce for you, unfortunately. However, we have adapted our recipe and now we have a delicious Vegan Shito which you should definitely try if you can't eat fish but you love smokey, spicy flavours.

What's with the name?!

Shito is the word for 'pepper' in Ga, one of the languages spoken in Ghana. It might not be a very well-known word right now but with our efforts and the wonderful support from our loyal customers, we can change that and give this glorious condiment the respect it deserves.
